We are an in-house fine jewelry repair and commercial cleaning center. Our Repair Department is managed by our Licensed Master Jeweler and GIA Master Graduate Gemologist. We offer a plethora of services like Diamond Setting, Ring Sizing, Watch Repair and Modifications, Electroplating, Full Prong Repair and Re-tipping, Simple Solders and Welds; along with many other services like the restyling of older pieces.
Laser Repair
Certain Gemstones cannot hold heat without changing color or breaking. Laser Repair is the best option for colored gemstones and small repairs.
A Laser Weld should only be used as a secondary method in base construction on a jewelry piece. A soldered joint can be stronger than a laser welded joint because the alloy used to solder with, penetrates deeper into the metal being joined. Material for laser welding is a higher and stronger quality, but it only involves surface penetration. This is why platinum rings that have been sized by laser can tend to break. Many jewelers resort to the easier and faster way to repair and size because it is cost effective. The first and best method is always to solder properly using a high quality solder. Joints are not seen with hard solder and medium solder is not noticeable.
